After COVID-19 – Life & The Insurance Industry

Thursday - 8:15 to 9:15 AM

Summary
Questions are sure to arise in regards to the possible role insurance may play due to the widespread illness and financial losses of this pandemic. Just how will our policies respond or will they respond at all? What policies could be affected? I thought there were exclusions for these types of situations. Who decides? Are there other issues in addition to claims that need to be addressed? This is just a few of the questions we as an industry are asking ourselves. Remember even after the claims and the lawsuits are settled what will the post COVID industry look like? There are still more questions that will need answered. Will the policies look different? What are the new exposures that will now need to be addressed?

Coping With Fraud - Claims Stories

Thursday - 10:45 to 11:45 AM

Summary
Insurance fraud undermines the insurance industry as a whole and is detrimental to everyone. Everyone pays the cost of insurance fraud in extra amounts of insurance, goods, services and taxes. Insurance is affected by fraudulent claims in much the same way as any other business that is the target of criminals. Insurance fraud threatens the affordability of insurance and the concept of risk sharing upon which insurance is founded. In exchange for payment of a premium the insured transfers their risk of loss to a company. The company accumulates those payments to provide monies to pay for a loss. In order to do this the insurance company must be able to predict losses. So, when insureds think fraud is a “victimless crime” they need to think again.

Farm Risk Management, Liability & Side Businesses

Thursday - 1:30 to 4:30 PM

Summary
When we start looking at our insured's liability exposures we normally want to view them through the lens of Risk Management. When your customers start working in those 'other areas', whatever they may be, they increase their risk of uncovered losses. We'll combine a Risk Management approach to their liability exposures and side businesses and see how we can best assist them in managing their loss exposures.
