2022 Annual Convention - Lincoln Sessions

CISR Hold Seminar

Wednesday CISR Class 8:00am - 4:00pm

Location
Embassy Suites
Speakers
  • John M. Dismukes, Jr., CPCU, AAI, CIC, AIS
Summary
Insuring Toys: How many of your customers think that their child’s motorized car has liability coverage under the Homeowners Policy? Do they believe that the Personal Auto Policy will cover a rented golf cart or snowmobile? “Toys” are motorized recreational vehicles such as riding mowers, snowmobiles, all-terrain vehicles, and so on —many personal lines customers own at least one! The Homeowners Policy and Personal Auto Policy are not designed to handle these risks, so the potential exists for a coverage gap. It is important to identify the “Toys” exposure with your customer and offer the appropriate solutions, such as a policy endorsement, or even a specialty policy. Commercial Inland Marine & Builder's Risk: This course will give participants a broad overview of Inland Marine topics. From there, the participant will learn what to look for when writing important coverages such as Contractors Equipment Floaters, Builders Risk, and Installation Floaters. Covered property, property not covered, covered causes of loss, and exclusions for each policy type will be discussed. In addition, the participant will learn what type of underwriting considerations will be required when writing these risks.

Cyber Specialist, Cooper Hawes with Evolve MGA, will be putting on a cyber educational presentation to educate and explain how to address these questions and more by covering common cyber exposures for an insurance agency, real life claims examples, and what cyber security looks like for the average employee.

E&O: Commercial Property Gaps and How to Fill Them

Location
Embassy Suites
Speakers
  • John M. Dismukes, Jr., CPCU, AAI, CIC, AIS
Summary
This course is designed to help insurance agents and brokers prevent many types of errors and omissions involving commercial property insurance. The verb prevent is used here in the risk management sense. Loss prevention seeks to reduce the frequency or likelihood of claims. Complete avoidance is impossible. This course is by no means exhaustive. No course can possibly recognize and discuss every conceivable type of error or omission an insurance agent or broker can make. However, it should at least make readers aware of many potential pitfalls and how they can be avoided.
