Thursday 8am - 9:50am

Speakers
  • Angelynn Heavener CIC, CPIA
Summary

In the current economic environment, one of the key questions insureds and agents should ask is “Is my coverage sufficient?”. In other words, “what would it take to reconstruct my building or home and replace all my stuff?” However, we all know that the focus usually shifts to “how much will this cost”? Especially in today’s marketplace. As you look at your book of business you may feel that almost three quarters of your clients are more than 50% underinsured. The question hovers like a dark cloud, driven by skyrocketing material costs, pandemic-triggered supply chain upheavals, unprecedented severe weather, and surging inflation. Prices continue to go up. This underinsurance crisis affects both commercial and personal clients. So, what is the conscientious agent to do? This program will examine these issues and provide strategies for helping your clients achieve the coverage they need.

From Average to Expert: Mastering Insurance for Small and Hobby Farms (3 CEUs in Nebraska)

Thursday 1:30pm - 4:20pm

Speakers
  • Samuel T. Bennett - CIC, AFIS, CPRM, TRIP, CRIS, CPIA
Summary

Regardless of whether you are filling the commercial or personal insurance needs or, even more likely, a combination of these coverages for your small or hobby farm clients, the competitive nature of the marketplace requires that you differentiate yourself. This presentation reminds the insurance professional of the vital position they maintain in their relationship with these clients. We will include a discussion of the risk management process and use of those tenants in pursuit of reducing coverage gaps. Review of the many tools available to more thoroughly identify exposures during the interview process (applications, surveys, questionnaires, research tools, etc.) will be addressed. Successful identification will lead to effective analysis, control and finance of risk. Developing a plan and putting that plan in motion – including modification when needed - will make you the ‘go to’ for your clients’ insurance needs. Discussions of shortcomings in ‘base’ coverage forms as well as endorsements available to fill these gaps will show how the prepared insurance professional can differentiate themselves from the average agent. Anyone can sell insurance. Only the prepared professional can make themselves a trusted advisor.
